Finland
- LICENSE REQUIRED
- An annual fee of <20€ is collected on every PLB radio license. This fee is called frequency fee and it is based on Finnish legislation.
- Through the licence procedure Search And Rescue authorities will automatically get access to the TRAFICOM database.
- The license validity period is normally five (5) years, but may also be less depending on certain issues. At the end of this period a PLB license will be renewed automatically, if the licence holder accepts this.
- The PLB licence may be applied using the electronic service of TRAFICOM. The applicant must then go through an identification process either by using bank identifiers, chip-based identity card or mobile certificate.
- CERTIFICATE REQUIRED
- The user does not have to obtain any kind of operator's certificate, but is obliged to be aware of the procedures in case of false alert. The procedures of how to cancel a false alert are shown in the PLB radio license.
- THE ACCEPTANCE OF A FOREIGN LICENSE HOLDER
- Finland accepts any PLB license issued by a foreign administration, if the PLB has been registered to a database, which is available for Search And Rescue authorities. This database may also be the Cospas-Sarsat International Beacon Registration Database (IBRD). Then NO radio license from the Finnish administration is needed.
