Correspondence group (CG) on 40.5–43.5 GHz technical conditions

RSS
Peter Faris 25/06/20 10:23

ECC PT1#65 (online, 15-18 June 2020) agreed to establish a correspondence group on this topic with the following terms of reference (ECC PT1(20)111_Annex 08):

Terms of Reference for Correspondence Group (CG) 40.5–43.5 GHz Technical conditions

ECC has tasked ECC PT1 to develop an ECC Decision on MFCN harmonisation, comprising a band plan and technical conditions suitable for 5G, taking into account the radio applications according to ERC Report 25 (ECA table) (see work item PT1_34) with a target date of 2 July 2021.

This PT1 CG should, based on contributions received, initiate analysis in order to facilitate the further drafting of the technical conditions for the 40.5-43.5 GHz band to respond to the ECC work item (PT1_34) and EC Mandate and taking into account relevant CEPT and ITU-R deliverables in preparation for and results from WRC-19 Agenda item 1.13.

As a first step, the CG should:

  • Review the current and planned use of the 40.5-43.5 GHz frequency band taking into account the radio applications according to ERC Report 25 (ECA table).
  • Consider the results of the ECO Questionnaire from 2016[1] and develop a further questionnaire if necessary.

As a second step, the CG could:

  • Identify relevant scenarios for shared spectrum use between those uses and MFCN, in order to ensure co-existence and further development of all relevant services within the band.

The CG will report to ECC PT1 one week before the deadline of input contributions for the next meeting.

Correspondence group convener:  Meta Pavšek Taškov (AKOS/Republic of Slovenia)

Working methods: ECO forum and web meetings, as appropriate.

Dear all,

I have received proposal proposal for the 3 agreed web meetings to be held in November.

* One option: Friday 6. and 13. and 20. every morning or
* 30.10., 13.11., 27.11. every morning if we need more time between the different CG meetings
* or also 2-week-rhythm Monday 2.11., 16.11., 30.11. Perhaps we have to cancel then 3.11. for 900/1800 MHz CG (we have 2 possible dates in this week for 900/1800 MHz CG)

No CG on 12th of November and during ECC (17.-19.11.)

Best regards

Meta

ECC PT1#66 (webmeeting, 1-3&9-11 Sept 2020) agreed to continue this correspondence group with the following updated terms of reference:

Terms of Reference for Correspondence Group (CG)

40.5 – 43.5 GHz Technical conditions

ECC has tasked ECC PT1 to develop an ECC Decision on MFCN harmonisation, comprising a band plan and technical conditions suitable for 5G, taking into account the radio applications according to ERC Report 25 (ECA table) (see work item PT1_34) with a target date of 2 July 2021.

Furthermore, ECC has tasked ECC PT1 to prepare the CEPT Report to respond to the EC Mandate to develop least restrictive harmonised technical conditions suitable for next-generation (5G) terrestrial wireless systems for 40.5-43.5 GHz (see work item PT1_37).

This PT1 CG should, based on contributions received, continue work on the draft ECC Decision (see document SWG A TEMP 05) and the draft CEPT Report (see document SWG A TEMP 06).

The CG will report to ECC PT1 one week before the deadline of input contributions for the next meeting.

Correspondence group convener:  Meta Pavšek Taškov (AKOS/Republic of Slovenia)

Working methods: ECO forum and web meetings (2-3 times; half a day each), as appropriate.

Dear All,

Thank you, I indicated availability in the doodle pool.

If it helps, just one observation about web-meeting times: most ITU e-meetings start at 12:00 Geneva Time (WP5D is 13:00-17:30, WP5A/5B/5C is 12:00-16:00, WP4A is 12:00-16:15, etc...), hence is the CG webmeetings could be 10:00-12:00 or 9:30-12:00 then there would be no overlap with ITU meetings, and availability might be improved for some delegates.

Regards,

Cédric

META PAVSEK TASKOV 29/09/20 11:59

Dear all,

Thanks to Cedric for information on ITU WPs meetings.

Thanks to Craig informing us between 16 and 20 November the 54th ECC Plenary is scheduled in that week. While the official schedule is for it to run 17-20 November, if it is online (not officially confirmed but highly likely) we might need to follow a similar format to the 53th meeting in July where we also use Monday 16 November.

Therefore, I propose, if possible, that we have meetings from 9:30-12:00, and I will summarise at 10:00 progress for late arrivals.

Looking at Doodle Pool (and we defenitely need Peter Farris) I propose following web meetings:

  • 13. 11. 2020 (9:30-12:00)
  • 27. 11. 2020 (9:30-12:00)
  • 30. 11. 2020 (9:30-12:00)

Best regards

Meta

Craig Scott 06/11/20 15:37

Dear Meta and all,

Please find attached two inputs from the UK for the 13 November CG 40 GHz meeting next week. These inputs update both the ECC Decision and CEPT report working documents.

Best regards,

Craig Scott (UK)
